     Under the auspices of:

Keynote Lecture: Physical modelling of tsunami and hurricane surge hazards to increase community resilience
Dr. Dan Cox (co-PI) conducts research on coastal hazards and the impact of hurricane wave/surge and tsunamis on the built and natural environment, including building, bridge and lifeline damage.  He also conducts research on coastal processes, including wave breaking turbulence, sediment suspension and transport.   He served as the director of the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory from 2002 to 2010 and currently serves as the principle investigator for the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Experimental Facility for Hurricane Surge/Wave and Tsunami Hazards.   Dr. Cox is an active member of committees for the American Society of Civil Engineers to improve community resilience to coastal hazards.  He also serves as the associate director for the Center for Risk-based Community Resilience Planning.
